I reluctantly started wearing compression hose. I was facing my second varicose vein surgery, and could no longer avoid the obvious... I needed them. The first week was hard; the embarrassment was hard; the 'feeling old' was hard. Within a month, though, they felt so comfortable! I got over the embarrassment and started telling folks, 'yes, I wear them.'
Truth be told, I wish I had started wearing them in my 30's; I could have avoided at least one surgery. My legs feel better; I have not developed any more bad veins; and I am confident my legs are healthier. I ballroom dance, take care of my grandkids, work out with a trainer, walk a lot, travel, and I am reassured that I am protecting my legs. Take the leap... it's worth it.
